Those Lavender Whales

“Tomahawk of Praise,” Those Lavender Whalesʼ first proper full-length, is being released on LP, CD, and digitally by Fork & Spoon Records on January 17, 2012. The album was written, recorded, and mixed over the course of about 3 years in Nashville, TN in a friendʼs basement studio. During that time Nashville flooded and Graves married (now drummer) Jessica Bornick. They soon entered into parenthood and moved back to Columbia, SC resulting in “Tomahawk” becoming more of a contemplation on celebrating complex situations rather than just a collection of light-hearted pop songs.  The album sways between intimate confessions and lush arrangements of off-kilter instruments while never losing the charm or honesty that brings the whole together.
